FAQs

What are your recording, mixing, and producing rates?

My rates depend on the project. I offer “a la carte” services (recording, mixing, or both) as well as flat rate deals if you’d like to do an entire record with me. Some basic guidelines that help me determine my rates are: average song length, number of songs and average audio/instrument track count.

How does mixing with you work?

It’s easy — no matter where you live in the world. All you need is a high speed Internet connection to send me your music files.

I try to make things as easy and efficient as possible. To get started, I ask that you send me your sessions high-res audio files (.WAV or .AIFF) via the Internet. There are some easy and free options to send large files including wetransfer.com, yousendit.com, dropbox.com or FTP.

You can also send me your hard drive with your sessions inside. I ask that all edits are done prior to sending, and that all tracks are consolidated for easy alignment. I will help you prepare your sessions for mixing if you are not sure what to do.

Once I have your song(s), I generally do 1 mix per day. After I’ve mixed your song, I upload it for you to listen. You make your notes and then I complete your revisions (if any) the following morning, at which point I upload the new print of your song. We work like this until your record is finished.

We like what you do, but are you willing to work with us on our vision?

Of course. I know how precious your music is — and my main goal is to help you make your best work to date. I will work with you to achieve the best possible sound for your music.

Do you mix records for bands outside the US?

Absolutely. All you need is an Internet connection and we’re good to go.

Will you travel to make records?

Yes! I love to travel and happy to come to you if that’s what you prefer.

How do we book you?

I work on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can email me to discuss availability.  Once we agree on timing, I’ll send you a contract with details we’ve all agreed on.

What’s your payment plan?

In addition to a contract, I require a 50% deposit of our agreed fee to start. The remaining 50% fee is due upon delivery of your masters.

Some forms of payment I accept are: credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discovery and American Express), PayPal, bank transfer and Western Union.

What equipment do you use?

I have a vast collection of microphones, drums, recording gear, effects processors, plugins and so on. Some of the main things I use are: Apple, Pro Tools 10, Apogee Symphony I/O, Dangerous Music, Waves, SoundToys, McDSP, Lexicon, Valhalla DSP, Steven Slate, Massey, Empircal Labs, Chameleon Labs, API, Ensoniq, Sennheiser, Heil, Sure, Audio Technica, Audix, Sonor, Yamaha, Electro Harmonix, MXR, Paiste, Mogami, Primacoustic, Glyph, and more.

Do you have recommendations for mastering engineers?

Yes. I have a few very good and reasonably priced mastering engineers that I work with regularly.
